Day 63 | Renato Cohen - Suddenly funk

Born and raised in Sao Paolo, RENATO COHEN has almost singlehandedly put the Brazilian dance music scene on the map. With his own unique way of mixing styles, from House to Techno and influences of Funk and Jazz, the Paulista built up a clear Brazilian electronic music identity. Not through musical clichés but by creating a happy and enticing atmosphere, led by the idea that music must always bring something good to people and make their lives better.

His early productions became very known by the audience, when his tracks got used in advertising campaigns of brands such as Coca-Cola and Toshiba. He also worked in other different artistic projects, including remixes for the worldwide hit movie "City of God", soundtracks for modern dance shows and the score for an Alexandre Herchcovitch's fashion show.

This Track : Opening with a hard hitting beat and reverberating percussions and synthesizers, you start asking yourself where the funk is. Then the well rounded melody line drops in and it suddenly hits you: this is no music to sit and listen to. So blow up those speakers and start bashing the disco. So get ready to get funky.
